About the project

Kadhakali, since its era of popularity has been the ethnic motif of god’s own country- Kerala. The word’s meaning and essence originate from two Sanskrit words – Kadha, means story or a mere conversation and Kali, from Kala which means art or performance. This art is undeniably a celebration of the subtleties of life, evident from the nature of the stories that are chosen for the performance. However, this simplicity is a mere deception to the complex nature of the performance. It’s executed through sharp coordination among actors, make-up artists, an orchestra, singers, production designers and of course the audience.
